Red Cross Lifeguard Training Course

This is a blended learning course. The online instruction must be completed prior to the first in-person session. There are no refunds for participants who do not complete the online course on time. Participants must take the online portion of this course and attend the sessions listed above to complete training. Those meeting the requirements and receiving a passing grade on the exam will receive Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding, Water Safety, First Aid, AED, and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

Participants must be at least 15 years old and able to complete the following

  • swim 300 yards continuously consisting of 200 yards of crawl stroke with rhythmic breathing and a propellant kick (breathing can be to the side or front) and 100 yards breaststroke
  • swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke surface dive a depth of 7 - 10 feet to retrieve a 10 pound object and return to surface swimming 20 yards back to starting point with object. Object must be carried in both hands and your face must remain above water in a time of 1minute and 40 seconds
  • participant must attend all sessions listed to complete training.

Course is open to Cedardale Members and Non Members.
Attendees must attend both sessions and complete the online portion prior to in person sessions.
